Committee Overview

All committees are to work closely with the MGWWC Vice President and entire executive board to accomplish the goals listed below.

 Educational Committee

The Educational Committee oversees MGWWC educational programming.  They research potential speakers, and review speaker topics and costs with the President and Vice President to confirm which speakers are to be scheduled by the committee for monthly membership meetings. Ideally, scheduling should be arranged as far as possible in advance. This may also include helping to plan educational sessions at special events, and work with MSUE County Coordinator on additional certification programs for certified Extension Master Gardeners of Wayne County.

Merchandise Committee

The Merchandise Committee raises funds for the organizations general fund by coordinating the purchase, storage, transportation, sales, and timely recordkeeping of gardening related items. The sales locations would be membership meetings, special events and possible online store.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee oversees membership activities related to organizing membership information.  This includes activities such as: cooperating with sending forms, collection of forms and dues payments, providing payments to the Treasurer for deposit, recording attendance, and regularly updating membership lists and emailing them to the four executive board members.

Fundraising, Projects and & Scholarships Committee

The Fundraising, Projects and & Scholarships Committee oversees the raising of funds for the organization’s general fund with the purpose to support educational activities.  These can include supporting certified Master Gardeners MGWWC approved projects through support in planning projects, getting projects certified and reconized by MGWWC.  These projects are eligible for grants and members are eligible for scholarships for certification classes.

 Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee oversees the monthly refreshments part of the membership meeting.  If special events are scheduled, they may coordinate with activity leader to support that activity.

The Webmaster oversees the creation and updating of both the MGWWC Website and also the Facebook page.  The primary goal of both these are educational with organizational information and sound research-based information.
